Specialist Ophthalmic and Oculoplastic Surgeon

Caroline Wilde is an Ophthalmic and Oculoplastic Surgeon, specialising in blepharoplasty surgery, eyelid surgery and advanced facial aesthetics.

After completing seven years of Ophthalmology training and two fellowships in Oculoplastic surgery at the renowned Moorfields Eye Hospital, Miss Wilde performed a cosmetic fellowship under the direct guidance of Daniel Ezra where he coached her in his particular techniques of performing Oculofacial surgery.

Miss Wilde is passionate about surgery and achieving the best outcomes for her patients. Caroline has performed all aspects of eye surgery and has completed over two thousand procedures. She is a perfectionist and this is what led her to sub-specialise in oculoplastic surgery which requires meticulous attention to detail. Miss Wilde’s approach to cosmetic and reconstructive eyelid surgery is to aim for natural, refreshed results.

Research has been a constant focus throughout Caroline’s career. In addition to her medical degree, she completed a Master of Research at the Institute of Ophthalmology and UCL. During her master’s degree, Miss Wilde performed a natural history study of patients with achromatopsia, an inherited eye disease, in preparation for gene therapy trials. At present, clinical trials are now underway and the preliminary results are promising.

Dr Caroline Wilde has presented her research internationally and published several articles in peer-reviewed journals, one winning her the prestigious Théa Trophy, presented at ARVO in Vancouver. Dr Wilde’s current research focuses upon improving outcomes in blepharoplasty surgery, direct brow lifts and filler dissolving.

In addition to clinical work, Caroline is dedicated to sharing her expertise through teaching and training. She believes that surgeons should speak openly about their outcomes and share lessons they have learned. This ethos led to the evolution of a surgical training evening which is now an annual event for London ophthalmologists. Miss Wilde also teaches on the Moorfields Eye Emergency course and runs a tear-trough filler course.

As part of the Vision 2020 project, Miss Wilde has written the oculoplastic curriculum for trainee ophthalmologists in Ghana. This project aims to improve sub-speciality ophthalmology teaching and involves a series of online lectures followed by hands-on surgical coaching. The ultimate objective is that these online lectures will be offered to all developing nations and that the surgeons who have attended the course will go on to teach and train the next generation.

"Any anxiety or fear about undertaking the experience of a surgical procedure - in my case blepharoplasty with upper lid and mid face lift - evaporated on meeting Dr Caroline Wilde. It was very clear from our first meeting that a trust was formed as I found her approach, warmth and kindness, expertise and passion for her work completely reassuring. She inspired confidence in how she would enact the procedure to bring the best results and everything was discussed in depth. Aly and the administration and reception team were excellent. On the day of the surgery, Caroline and the team were kind and supportive and I really began to look forward to getting this done finally, it felt like such a huge thing to put myself through. Here my thanks also go out to anaesthetist Dr Miran, who was very considerate and kept me pain free in a beautiful sedation! Nurse Jo who tended to all my needs and kept me laughing. My final expression of gratitude is for the incredible outcome. Caroline has delicately and expertly crafted a fresh and revitalised, natural look for me, that is truly my face; a restoration to myself before grief and sadness made me despair on how I could possibly get some vibrancy back. I am thrilled to have followed my intuition and put in the long hours research that led me to this fantastic clinic and to Dr Caroline and wish all future clients an equally excellent experience."

"Having reached the age where drawing eye liner around the hooded eyes was becoming an unwelcome daily challenge I set out to research Blastoplasty. After much searching I found my way to Daniel Ezra’s clinic for an appointment with Dr Caroline Wilde. As soon as I met her I knew I was in safe hands and I also realised why it had taken me so long to find the right consultant. I had been looking for an oculoplastic surgeon, someone who fully understood the eyes was paramount.Within minutes of the first consultation I knew Caroline the right person to carry out the surgery. She listened to my concerns and after a thorough examination of my eyes a bespoke treatment plan was agreed. Caroline was warm, caring, considerate, clearly takes great pride in her work and inspire confidence. The procedure went very smoothly, I experienced no pain, minimal bruising and no swelling or any real discomfort. Six days later the stitches where removed and I am delighted with the results. No more wonky eye liner for me!The day to day running of the clinic is well supported by a professional friendly team who are there to answer any questions and to make the whole experience as easy as possible. If I could give more that five star I most certainly would."
