Oculoplastic Surgery/Brow Lift

Brow lift procedure restores the youthful shape of the brow line and creates a fresher and more natural appearance

Brow lift treatment

A brow lift is a very popular procedure to rejuvenate the forehead and eyebrows for patients who want to correct the signs of ageing and create a refreshed appearance whilst boosting their overall self-confidence. Often a lower position of the eyebrow can make you look tired, sad or even angry. As a result, brow lift surgery restores the youthful shape of the brow line creating a fresher, natural appearance which complements the rest of the face.

The brow lift procedure

The brow lift procedure involves lifting the brow itself and tightening the muscles which have stretched over time. Excess skin may also be removed, depending on the chosen treatment.

There is a wide variety of different types of brow lifts, each of which has its own advantages and disadvantages. Your surgeon will explain the choices to you and help you make the choice of procedure that is right for you.

Brow lift procedures are usually for aesthetic reasons. However, patients also chose this treatment to improve their field of vision which is often caused by the drooping of the brow.

Usually, the eyebrow lift surgery takes between 1 to 2 hours and healing takes approximately 2 weeks if aftercare is followed correctly to ensure effective recovery. Our medical team also prescribes medication to help with recovery and to alleviate pain.

The procedure is often performed in combination with other procedures such as a blepharoplasty or as part of facelift & mini-facelift treatments.

Having a brow lift reduces drooping brows caused by ageing and boosts self-confidence. The treatment results in a more youthful appearance, a clearer field of vision, and corrects the asymmetry of the forehead and eyebrows.

There are a range of brow lifting options and the choice will depend upon the severity of the brow droop, skin quality and age of the patient.

The direct brow lift is a powerful and effective eyebrow surgery lift which offers excellent and long-lasting outcomes. However, a light scar along the upper brow line may be noticeable for those patients with very thin brow hair.

Internal browpexy is an alternative procedure that is suggested for mild brow ptosis (where the upper eyelid droops over the eye) if blepharoplasty or another type of upper eyelid surgery is also considered. This technique allows for a minimally invasive approach through the same incision as the blepharoplasty, meaning that there is no additional downtime.

The drawback is that it is not always effective, given the minimally invasive nature of the technique.

The chemical brow lift reshape and lift the brow considerably by using a combination of fillers and botulinum toxin injections. As a result, a very significant improvement of face lift is achieved.

The endoscopic brow lift is performed through small incisions behind the hairline. The elevation is modest and is less effective with higher hairlines. There is also a “temporal brow lift” variant of this procedure which focuses on raising the outer tail of the brow.

Following a brow lift, it is recommended that you do not work for 1-2 weeks to allow for adequate healing. Bruising and swelling is expected, and bandages should be worn for the first 24 hours. Swelling can be reduced by sleeping in an elevated position for the first week, and gently applying ice packs to the affected areas will help reduce the swelling too. Patients should avoid strenuous exercise, but it is important to maintain mobility with gentle walks to aid circulation.

A temporary loss of sensation or numbness may also occur for several months post-surgery.

Your brow lift should be completely healed after around two weeks.

A brow lift can take between 1 to 2 hours.

Brow lift results typically last for 10 to 12 years. Some patients will benefit for longer and this is primarily due to their age and their skincare routine.

There is no specific age to get a brow lift, however most patients are typically between 40-65 years old. We also have treated many younger patients who may have noticed the signs of ageing and have heavy brows or deep lines that they are unhappy with.

The price for a brow lift starts from approximately £3,800 which includes both consultant and facility fees. The total cost will be confirmed following the initial consultation.
