Hagen Schumacher is a fully UK trained plastic surgeon on the GMC Specialist Register and is certified by the Royal College of Surgeons for all cosmetic procedures (“Cosmetic Surgery Certification Scheme”).

Following his specialist training at Cambridge University Hospital and associated units, he proceeded with two years of fellowship programs, sub-specialising in surgery of the head and neck as well as the breast region. He passed all requirements to become a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS Plast), Member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), and a Fellow of the European Board of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery (FEBOPRAS). Other professional affiliations include membership of BAAPS (British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons), BAPRAS (British Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons) and JCCP (Joint Council for Cosmetic Practitioners). Before starting his independent practice, Hagen had worked for over 10 years in the NHS as a consultant and as clinical lead for plastic surgery, holding positions as surgical lead for NIHR, as director for private services and as director for head and neck surgery in his trust.

Hagen has an extensive appearance-based practice in London and Cambridge. His special interests are surgery of the face (facelift, rhinoplasty, eyelid surgery, chin alterations, buccal fat removal etc.). Other operations include breast augmentation, reduction and lift, abdominoplasty and labiaplasty. He performs many procedures under a local anaesthetic as a day case.

His working philosophy is that it is more important how appearance affects his patients’ confidence, rather than what it looks like to others. Since a good outcome depends not only on surgical technique, but also healing and expectations, he selects patients carefully, and involves them as equal partners in the surgical process.
