Dr Eugene Ong is a UK-trained dermatologist, skin surgeon and European board-certified skin pathologist.

Dr Ong qualified from the University of Oxford with a BMBCh and an intercalated MA in Medical Sciences in 2008. He completed his medical training in Oxford, London (Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and University College London Hospital) and Australia (St Vincent’s Hospital, Melbourne) before completing a two-year fellowship in dermatopathology at the renowned St John’s Institute of Dermatology. Dr Ong completed his dermatopathology board certifying examinations with the International Committee for Dermatopathology – European Union of Medical Specialists and the Royal College of Pathologists, allowing him to report skin biopsies independently at a specialist tertiary referral consultant level.

In 2019, Dr Ong became certified by the ICDP-UEMS in Dermatopathology and in 2022 he completed his Diploma in Dermatopathology, recognised by the Royal College of Pathologists.

Dr Ong sits on the editorial advisory board for British Association of Dermatology’s Clinical and Experimental Dermatology Journal, and has he been published in over 20 high-impact peer-reviewed journals such as the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology. He is involved in dermatological research into moles, skin cancer and inflammatory dermatology, and is particularly interested in the correlation of microscope to clinical findings.

Dr Ong has received a number of accolades for his clinical work, including placing first in the national LDPath Dermatopathology Cup, and his research has also featured on BBC News and Radio.
