George Saleh is currently a full-time Consultant Ophthalmic and Oculoplastic surgeon at Moorfields Eye Hospital, where he is also Director of simulation training. His areas of expertise include investigating technologies for watery eye, national eyelid cancer trends, surgical outcomes in eyelid surgery and software in dry eye treatments.
He qualified in Medicine from Imperial College, London and underwent basic specialist ophthalmology training in the London and the East Anglia Regions before completing his higher specialist training at Moorfields Eye Hospital. Mr Saleh was awarded the Gold Medal as the most distinguished candidate for the clinical and surgical ophthalmic Fellowship Examination, as well as the highest first class distinction for his BSc during his undergraduate studies.
Mr Saleh has lectured widely at both national and international levels on periocular facial plastics and cataract surgery, published over 60 scientific articles and given more than 150 lectures relating to ophthalmology. He leads the national collaboration investigating tumours of the eyelid and surrounding tissues, and is the regional lead for the Intraocular Lens Study Group investigating Multifocal IOLs. As the primary investigator for the International Forum for Ophthalmic Simulation, Mr Saleh investigates virtual reality ophthalmic surgical training systems.
