Both how a wound is managed and how long a wound takes to heal have a very significant impact on whether there will be scarring and how problematic any scarring becomes.
Prevention is better than cure and the best way to avoid a scar is to provide the best wound care, which allows the wound to heal as soon as possible and to avoid infection. Not all wounds will heal well without surgical intervention. If surgery is required, a scar will form but there are many ways in which we can reduce how noticeable the scar is, by the way the surgery is performed and how the wound is managed post-operatively.
At The London Scar Clinic we treat wounds and our treatment approach always focuses on producing the best result with no scarring or the least scarring possible.
