Scar Assessment & Advice
There are different types of scars with different characteristics; scars often require more than one treatment, from more than one professional in order to optimally improve the look and feel of the scar and reduce its impact on function and wellbeing. Therefore, the best scar treatment involves a team approach. Our team has a specialist focus on scars and they treat scars all day long rather than occasionally, giving you the best possible chance at getting the advice and treatment that you need.
The assessment will involve asking you what impact the scar has on you, examination of the scar and a history of the scar and medical history. This helps us to understand the relevant problems and identify the best treatment options. Common symptoms of a scar include how it looks (it may be red, lumpy, poor texture, raised, pigment changes etc.), feels (it may itch, hurt, feel tight etc.) and how it may affect function and wellbeing (e.g. it may affect your confidence)
This treatment is provided for you by either our Clinical Scar Specialist or one of our Consultant Plastic Surgeons, depending on your situation.
“Our patients are cared for by a multi-disciplinary team, who work collectively together in order to achieve the best possible treatment outcomes”
