Psychology
Scar psychology treatment can focus on changing what the scar means to you, for example by helping you respond differently to it if it reminds you of an unfortunate event such as an illness or accident. Treatment can help with social interactions. It looks at how you feel, think or act and how other people respond to you and your scar.
Together we can then identify skills that minimise the influence of the scar in these situations. Psychological treatment can also support you to become more confident in scar management. This can involve psychological pain management skills, skills in living with the physical aspects of some scars (e.g. itching) or managing the necessary medical care. In this way psychological treatment, alongside the other treatments we offer, can promote better long-term outcomes.
This treatment is provided for you by our Psychologist.
