Dr Orton studied medicine in London. After extensive training in General Internal Medicine he decided to specialise in Dermatology where he underwent clinical training at the Royal Free Hospital and the Royal London Hospital. He completed higher training in Dermatology in 2000 and then undertook further sub-specialist training in Contact Dermatitis.
David has been a Consultant Dermatologist since 2000, initially at Amersham Hospital. His current NHS practice is at The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Trust where he runs the cutaneous allergy investigation unit, the adult General Allergy service and participates in the Paediatric Allergy Service. He is also an Honorary Consultant at the Royal Free Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust where he runs the cuteneous allergy investigation unit.
His main interests include skin allergy and eczema (diagnostic patch testing), and General Allergy to airborne allergens (pollens, dust mites, animal danders) food allergies/intolerances, drug allergies, latex allergy (skin prick tests and intradermal tests) and the management of urticaria and angioedema. He also offers newer treatments for allergy including sublingual immunotherapy.
His current positions of Responsibility include President of British Society of Cutaneous Allergy and Secretary of European Society of Contact Dermatitis.
