Mr Mehmet Manisali is a Consultant Maxillofacial Surgeon at St George’s NHS Trust and Croydon University Hospital. He is also an Honorary Consultant at Moorfields Eye Hospital. He completed his training in dentistry at the University of Bristol in 1982. Following this he obtained the Degree of MSc at the University of London following preparation of a thesis on Body Dysmorphic Disorders. He qualified from medical school (Charing Cross and Westminster Medical School) in 1992. Following this he completed his speciality training in Maxillofacial Surgery in London rotation which included Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children, University College Hospital and Roehampton Queen Mary’s Hospital.
He was appointed as a Consultant at St George’s and Croydon University Hospitals in 2000. Mr Manisali is interested in all aspects of facial deformity with a particular emphasis on management of facial trauma, orthognathic surgery, management of facial skin cancer, orbital surgery together with his oculoplastic colleagues at Moorfields Eye Hospital and facial aesthetic surgery (with a strong emphasis on rhinoplasty).
Together with other colleagues, he runs two rhinoplasty courses, one at a basic level and one for more advanced practitioners. He lectures nationally and internationally regularly on facial plastic surgery symposiums. He trains maxillofacial surgeons and surgeons from other specialties on various aspects of facial deformity management.
He has published many papers on various aspects of facial deformity and also has contributed to a number of text books by writing relevant chapters.
He is a member of the British Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons as well as the American Association of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons.
